True Success

 

In my newly discovered identity as the Rogue Rideshare Driver, I must be very careful to emphasize my lack of importance.  Why? Well, think about it … if they’re two people present in my car ie. me and a passenger – and we both think we’re more important than the other, one of us has to be wrong.  Paying customers don’t like to be wrong and the ride can become a contentious contest between confused egos.  Thus, it’s absolutely essential to my effectiveness as a driver that I never give people a glimpse of my ego.  So I tuck it away in the glove compartment and engage is conversation that is designed to affirm the passenger’s sense of self worth.  And …  that’s exactly what I would be doing even if I wasn’t being rated.  That’s what I’ve done with almost everybody I know for the last five decades, because in the final analysis – True success is all about making other people around you feel like they’re successful.
